The ultrasonic sounds will emit in a cone shape of about 130 degrees (about 65 degrees on each side). Point the MAX directly at the barking dog(s) for the best training angle.

Ultrasonic sound is above the hearing range of humans but attention grabbing and irritating to dogs. It redirects their focus from barking toward the high-pitched tone so training happens safely.

Audio mode lets you hear the MAX activate. Use it while you adjust the microphone sensitivity so you only trigger when the dog barks, then switch back to Ultrasonic mode. You can also use Audio mode as an alternative for older dogs or pups with poor hearing.

Cats and dogs hear similarly, so a cat near the unit may notice the sounds. The tone does not pass through walls or around corners, so keep other pets in another room or yard while the MAX is active.

If the MAX is close to the dog, raise the sensitivity to detect howling or whining. If it still does not register, consider our BarkWise no-shock collar. Remember whining or howling may signal discomfort, fear, or anxiety; consult a veterinarian rather than punish with any bark control system.

No. The volume is preset and varies on its own to keep the dog guessing. The training sounds travel up to 300 feet (90 m) with a clear line of sight.

Think of the Sensor dial as a distance setting. Keep it low for dogs nearby and turn it higher for dogs farther away. If the dial is too high it will detect other sounds, activate too often, and may make the barking worse.

We do not recommend using the Dog Silencer MAX on puppies under 1 year of age because their hearing is still developing. Please consult your veterinarian before using this product with a puppy.

The ultrasonic sound cannot penetrate solid objects such as wood fences, walls, windows, or thick shrubbery. Sparse trees, window screens, chain link, and wrought-iron fences usually pass the signal when you maintain a clear line of sight.

We do not recommend combining the MAX with invisible or electric fence systems. The frequencies are similar and may confuse the dog or interfere with training.

The keychain remote activates the device manually from up to 75 feet (23 m) away so you can reinforce the training whenever a barking dog wanders outside the automatic detection range.

You can use batteries or electricity, but we recommend the included AC adapter during the early training stage when the dog barks more. Battery life varies with weather, battery quality, and how often the unit fires; rechargeables are an economical option. We also offer a Solar Panel add-on.

No. All Good Life products are designed to be safe and humane. The high-pitched sounds are not painful or harmful, and the dog can still bark instinctively when needed.

Many customers see the effects within a few days, but stubborn barks may take two to three weeks. Some dogs bark at the unit or bark more at first; that is a normal part of the learning process, so give the MAX time.

For best results, leave the MAX on near the dog at all times (it will go into standby when the dog is not barking) so it can activate each time the dog barks.
